Abstract

This study aims to explore the implementation of character education based on the 5 Value Smart principles (honesty, earnestness, courtesy, discipline, and care) at SMP Smart Ekselensia Indonesia, Bogor, and its contribution to moral development and the advancement of Islamic knowledge. Employing a qualitative approach with a phenomenological case study method, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. The findings reveal that these five values are systematically internalized through intrakurikular, extracurricular, and co-curricular learning, as well as through teachers’ role modeling, thereby fostering positive student behavior both within the school and in the wider community. These results indicate that the 5 Value Smart can serve as an effective model for Islamic character education, relevant for strengthening dakwah bil hal and developing Islamic education curricula in the modern era.
